Birds like them, but they’re not edible to humans. This is one of the very few shrubs I planted purely for its looks. It’s not food, or fragrant, or useful, but I’ve always loved the cheery glow of Pyracantha berries in the wintertime.
It looks similar to something we have here, but our variant has really big, sharp, nasty thorns. And the berries are more orange than these.
